Spirit of Peace Privacy Statement

We value and take the privacy of our subscribers and supporters seriously and are making this Privacy Statement available to inform you about how data is securely held and managed by Spirit of Peace. The new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) comes in to effect on 25th May 2018. We have taken steps to produce a Privacy Policy to reflect changes in response to the regulations, to be ratified by our Board of Trustees.

Types of Data and Purposes

Newsletter - The data we hold about you includes your name, email address and nearest town, for the legitimate reason of keeping you informed about our activities. We use Mailchimp to send out our newsletter and are confident that they are fully compliant with GDPR regulations, with regard to subscribers lists. Each newsletter contains an Unsubscribe button, so that you can unsubscribe at any time. We will keep you on the mailing list until you choose to unsubscribe or let us know you wish to be removed.

Events - If you have been on a workshop or attended an event with Spirit of Peace then we may also have your address and phone number. We only use this to contact you personally when necessary to give you information you need or if you have requested us to be in touch. Also, we do not add you to our newsletter list unless you opt in via our website or a sign-up form at the event.

Donations - If you have made a donation and signed a Gift-Aid form we will have your address. Access is only available to charity staff and our accountant for the purposes of producing accounts and making a Gift Aid claim to the HMRC.

Security of Data

We take steps to ensure that personal data is kept secure at all times. Hard copies of lists are shredded when disposed and email addresses will be kept on a secure laptop/personal computer and digital storage. Any hard copies which are stored will be kept in a locked cabinet, in a locked office.

Within Spirit of Peace contact details are only shared between staff and local co-ordinators for administration and communication purposes.

The information we hold will be kept up to date and you can check any information we hold on you at any time by contacting info@spiritofpeace.co.uk. You have the right to ask us to remove any data we hold on you or change the way that we keep it secure. The CEO of the charity is responsible for ensuring your data is held securely.

In addition to this statement our Privacy Policy can be made available to you on request by email or hard copy.
