Meet The Team

jane2Jane Ozanne

Director

Jane Ozanne has a BA Hons degree in Sociology and Certificate of Qualification in Social Work. Other qualifications include training in counselling, spiritual accompaniment, pastoral work and courses relating to peace and nonviolence. She has worked in both residential and field Social Work for the London Boroughs of Wandsworth and Haringey.

Subsequently, Jane devoted her time to raising her two children and undertook a variety of pastoral and organisational roles within voluntary groups and networks. Recently Jane has been on the team of two retreat houses, The Ammerdown Centre and St Ethelwold's House. She continues to lead workshops and retreats.

Her lifelong interest in peacemaking and the Middle East resulted in Jane responding to a call for support from the Jerusalem Peacemakers, about six years ago. She found that their intentions and principles resonated with her own and became increasingly involved. As Jane’s peace work grew, it became clear it was time to create a charity, and so Spirit of Peace was born.

She has also travelled extensively and independently in the region since the age of 19, spending longer periods in Lebanon and Israel/Palestine. Sue Howard

Trustee

"I aim towards ... the hearty singing out by ordinary people of what too often lies withering in their hearts." This comment by a character in Dorothy Cranfield's novel, 'The Brimming Cup' continues to describe what matters to Sue. Sue believes that there is deep treasure in every human being and as each of us is 'heard into speech' our world is transformed.

Sue lives out this passion by a mixture of one to one consultancy and facilitating groups and teams. In particular she values 'conversation' the hallmark of which is a safe space where each voice is validated rather than a 'meeting' where there is a natural hierarchy of knowledge or experience.

Sue's personal spirituality echoes the words of Iraneus sixth century, 'The glory of God is the human being fully alive.'

Sue is about to take a sabbatical in which she wants to engage more with the nature of silence, especially corporate silence, as part of the way in which she can play her part in what Christopher Bamford described as 'the ensouling of the world'.
