Gloucester Feed the Hungry
Date: Monday 26th November, 2018
Time: 7pm – 8.45pm
Venue: Friendship Cafe, Chequers Bridge, Painswick Road, Gloucester GL4 6PR
Spirit of Peace warmly invites you to our final community Bring and Share Supper of the year. We are very pleased that after our shared supper, Hashim Norat will be talking about his work with Gloucester Feed The Hungry. He writes:
"My name is Hashim NORAT (‘Hash’ to all my friends)
I was born in this great city (Gloucester) and 51 years on I still love it and it’s people. Growing up in multicultural Barton and being from a home with no luxuries but one full of love, I believe I am the man I am today.
We started a project called Gloucester Feed the Hungry two years ago this month and our vision was to have a multi faith group of volunteers providing a one-stop shop for the homeless and vulnerable in our community. Providing hot meals, haircuts, clothing and toiletries with out judging was my vision…
I look forward to meeting you all on the 26th.
Heather-Jane Ozanne asked Hashim how we can support Feed the Hungry, especially as we’ll be approaching Christmas. He suggested that anyone who wishes might like to bring either: selection boxes/packets of chocolates as a festive gift or shoeboxes containing treats, toiletries, things to keep warm – socks, gloves, hat, scarf – with a greeting card or note.
You are invited to bring a contribution of vegetarian/alcohol-free food for the shared supper.
After Hashim’s talk there’ll be a few poems around the theme of Darkness and Light.
There is plenty of parking to the left of the Friendship Cafe. Do please spread the word around about this event to anyone who you think might like to join us.
